Red Dwarf, The Game
As a kid I loved the Red Dwarf TV series. This is on the whole unsurprising, as it was a great show. It was a perfect fit to my sense of humour, and the science/space side was greatly appealing.
So, I decided to write a Red Dwarf game. Actually it's just a pretty standard vertical scrolling shooter, but calling it Red Dwarf made it much cooler. Plus, I got some ideas for graphics. Here's a screenshot:

The controls are space and arrow keys. Sadly the game was never really finished; I only created a handful of levels and there was never any way to win. If you want to download it and create your own levels -- or improve the graphics -- you can. Levels are specified using bitmap images, with each colour of pixel being a particular type of enemy.
Anyway, I had a great time writing it, and the end result is really not bad at all.

Note that it needs to be run under DOSBox or on an old DOS machine.
